The LVMC Emergency Department provides bridge prescriptions of Suboxone for individuals with opioid use disorders that desire recovery. Depending on the patient’s last use and severity of symptoms, patients will be either treated with a dose of Buprenorphine in the hospital or written a prescription with instructions on how to self-start from home, microdose/cross taper and avoid precipitated withdrawal. Due to the high demand of MAT services and wait times to be seen, LVMC ED providers write a two- to three-week Bridge Suboxone prescription for patients that want to start MAT.

Patients are educated on outpatient options available in the Lompoc area for continued MAT management and encouraged to make an appointment with a provider as soon as possible.
