    The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department offers Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) to patients 16 years of age and older with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) across five Health Care Centers (HCCs) with locations in Carpinteria, Lompoc, Santa Maria, and two sites in Santa Barbara. Services are offered on a sliding fee scale, and the health care centers accept Medi-Cal/CenCal.

    Services Offered
    Primary Care Providers (PCP) at the 5 health care centers provide MAT treatment utilizing a Team-Based Care approach. The PCP works alongside a Registered Nurse, Medical Assistant, and Administrative Assistant, with the goal to ensure the individual has the support to maintain frequent, regular follow up with the PCP. In addition, the PCP partners with an on-site Behavior Health Specialist for cognitive behavioral therapy; a Registered Dietitian to provide nutritional guidance, and a Pharmacist to facilitate receipt of the prescribed medication. The HCCs provide comprehensive services, and have ongoing regular long-term monitoring through regular checkups, providing early detection of relapse, reduced time to retreatment and improved long term outcomes.

  • Substance Use Disorder Wellness and Recovery Access Point (SUD WRAP)

    SUD WRAP provides MAT (medications for addiction treatment) to individuals of all ages experiencing an Alcohol Use Disorder or Opioid Use Disorder. We are outpatient by appointment only and can provide care coordination services to link clients to any additional services that would be of benefit in their treatment.

    Payments Accepted: Services are billed to Medi-Cal insurance and will be free of charge to the Medi-Cal beneficiary.

    The Lompoc Valley Medical Center (LVMC) Emergency Department provides bridge prescriptions of Suboxone for individuals with opioid use disorders that desire recovery.  Depending on the patient’s last use and severity of symptoms, patients will be either treated with a dose of Buprenorphine in the hospital or written a prescription with instructions on how to self-start from home, microdose/cross taper and avoid precipitated withdrawal. Due to the high demand of MAT services and wait times to be seen, LVMC ED providers write a two- to three-week Bridge Suboxone prescription for patients that want to start MAT.

    Patients are educated on outpatient options available in the Lompoc area for continued MAT management and encouraged to make an appointment with a provider as soon as possible.

    Other services:

    Behavioral Health Services. Patients can be referred to Lompoc Health Behavioral Health for an assessment with a clinician where they will either continue to be seen or referred to another local therapist, dependent upon the patient’s needs. 

    Recovery Services.  The ED Patient Navigator is a Certified Peer Support Specialist who serves patients in all areas of the hospital and also meets with patients in the outpatient setting for peer support, motivational interviewing and linkages to continued care.

  • Project Recovery Perinatal Treatment Program

    The Project Recovery Perinatal Treatment Program, operated by the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) offers outpatient treatment services for pregnant women and parents of both genders with substance abuse disorders, as well as childcare services for children. The primary goal is to bridge clients into the recovery community so they can lead healthy, independent lives for themselves and their children. Program components include early recovery issues; pregnancy and parenting skills; and nutrition and exercise education. Clients assessed as having an opioid use disorder who are interested in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) will be referred to CADA’s addiction specialist, who can prescribe MAT, for further assessment. Clients can then enroll in the program to help support their recovery while receiving MAT.

    Other services:

    Case management helps link clients to resources such as mental health treatment, housing, food, monetary assistance, and medical care.

    Recovery Services provide support to program graduates.  This may include individual meetings with their primary counselor, case management for school, medical, or mental health needs, relapse prevention support (ability to attend groups or contact counselor as needed), and continued support for family relationships.

  • Good Samaritan Shelter: Another Road Detox

    Another Road Detox is a 6 bed facility with Detoxification (Withdrawal Management) and Residential Treatment services. The program provides 24 hour supervision with a homelike environment to residents who are struggling with substance abuse issues. The goal is to obtain sobriety, develop coping skills in order to maintain ongoing recovery and help integrate back into the community.  MAT services are allowed for clients in Withdrawal Management and Residential Treatment. Clients assessed as having an Opioid Use Disorder will be referred to a partnering clinic and/or Physician for MAT services.

    Recovery Way Home is a 16 bed facility that provides Residential Treatment services with a warm “home” environment. Women staying at these programs receive extra support from experienced staff and peers. Residential Treatment services for Women, perinatal and non-perinatal with on-site childcare and Case Management services.  Clients assessed as having an Opioid Use Disorder will be referred to a partnering clinic and/or Physician for MAT services.

    Turning Point Outpatient Treatment is designed for women with SUD and co-occurring  issues. Additionally, TP  specializes in providing services to pregnant women with the goal of delivering drug free babies. The program works hand-in-hand with the agency’s residential treatment programs to provide a supportive living environment for women unable to attain sobriety independently. Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Treatment services for women, both perinatal and non-perinatal women, provides on-site childcare.  Clients assessed as having an Opioid Use Disorder will be referred to a partnering clinic and/or Physician for MAT services.

    Turning Point’s outpatient treatment requires a minimum of 9 hours a week of programs, including education on co-occurring disorders, Individual/group counseling sessions, and education on the effects of alcohol and drug dependence and abuse. This program also coordinates ancillary services, as well as provides on site childcare for those undergoing treatment.

    The treatment that is offered at Lompoc Recovery Center is simple, safe, inexpensive and effective. We provide individual and  group counseling sessions. Group topics include education on the physiological effects from drugs and alcohol, trauma and its correlation to SUD,  how to develop safe coping skills, healthy parenting skills and relapse prevention to ensure ongoing sobriety. As a social model program, we encourage 12 step and/or self help groups outside of treatment as a way of maintaining long term sobriety.

    The Transitional Center for Women & Children is a 20 bed facility that provides Residential Treatment services with a warm “home” environment. Women staying at these programs receive extra support from experienced staff and peers. Residential Treatment services for Women, perinatal and non-perinatal with on-site childcare and Case Management services.  Clients residing in our perinatal residential programs may reside there with their children up to age 5 years of age. Clients assessed as having an Opioid Use Disorder will be referred to a partnering clinic and/or Physician for MAT services. 

    Services Offered

    Good Samaritan Shelter provides a variety of SUD services throughout the Central Coast Valley. Comprehensive services include Residential Treatment for both men and women, Withdrawal Management (Detoxification) services, Outpatient Treatment Services that include Intensive Outpatient and Recovery Services (aftercare). Clients assessed as having an Opioid Use Disorder will be referred to a partnering clinic and/or Physician for MAT services. 

    Approach to Care

    The programs provides individual and group counseling for substance use disorders which include a variety of evidenced based curriculum. All residents will be assigned a Case Manager who will help link them to ancillary services.

    Participants in the program may reside at these programs anywhere from 30 to 120 days depending on necessity. Women with children under 5 years of age may reside there with them.

The goal is to obtain sobriety, develop coping skills in order to maintain ongoing recovery and help integrate back into the community.  MAT services are allowed for clients in WM and Residential Treatment. Clients assessed as having an Opioid Use Disorder will be referred to a partnering clinic and/or Physician for MAT services.

    Good Samaritan Shelter provides a variety of SUD services throughout the Central Coast Valley. Comprehensive services include Residential Treatment for both men and women, Withdrawal Management (Detoxification) services, Outpatient Treatment Services that include Intensive Outpatient and Recovery Services (aftercare). Clients assessed as having an Opioid Use Disorder will be referred to a partnering clinic and/or Physician for MAT services. 

    Approach to Care

    The treatment that is offered for withdrawal from drugs and alcohol is simple, safe, inexpensive and effective. We provide one-on-one counseling sessions, drug and alcohol education and information, and long-term aftercare. Clients attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings to remain both clean and sober.
